This Mother’s Day weekend the market at The Edgemere Farm will be Saturday and Sunday from 9am -1pm. You can pick up your tomato plants and many other garden must-haves to kick of this gardening season. Here it is, past the July 4th weekend and this is what my basil plants look like (above).  Last year I was so proud that I had a red grape tomato one day after my Italian friend in Brooklyn had his first one.  This year my basil leaves a lot to be desired. I would bet good money that my friend John (who’s working on our house) knows more of my neighbors than I do. He introduced me to Sam and Elsa, awesome people who have what you could call a mini-farm on Beach 92nd street.
