Going Up The Country

Cooperstown NY

I went camping last weekend with my family near Cooperstown. Despite feeling like I might be missing a weekend of Rockaway fun, it was wonderful to be in the country air. There were a few notable happenings I’d like to report. Impossible Burger. On the ride there and the way back, my husband and I stopped for the Impossible Burger at Burger King. I’m kind of addicted.  It’s interesting that fast food places are now serving meat alternatives. It’s great. We’re still talking “fast food” and a processed product but […]

Whata Week.

rockaway surf club

The week before last was non-stop. It started on Friday night. It was my friend Rob Bryn’s Birthday and the Surf Club opened just for his party. Headlining was the Ye Mighty Wave with special guests from Rob’s main band — Wild Yaks. Speaking of, they have a new album coming out on June 21st entitled Great Admirer! I’ve heard it and it’s amazing! Opening the show was Tiffany Lyons. Did you catch The Wave article about her a few weeks ago?  She sang a few songs and got everyone […]

Did Last Week Happen Part 2

Matt-changing-the-tire,-somewhere-in-Jamaica

Since I wrote about my mother’s fall two weeks ago, the streak of strange events has continued. My mother was out of critical care and on the mend, so Matt and I decided not to cancel our birthday vacation to Jamaica. The day before we were leaving, I pulled out our passports and Matt’s was expired. I couldn’t believe it. I was so annoyed and upset. With all the commotion surrounding my mother’s injury, I neglected to get our travel plans in order. I started to freak out. Matt told […]

Grams of the Week – Aug 28

camping-fire

Here’s a recap of the best instagrams of last week. If you want the day to day follow me here! I spent most of last week at Lake George Great Escape with my sisters, nephews and nieces. It was so much fun! The campground is great for kids. There are lots of activities, a pool, and swimming lakes. There’s a restaurant/bar for the adults and golf carts! We visited the village of Lake George which has even more to do. We made a stop at  Fort William Henry and took a steam boat ride on the lake.  Matt […]

Vintage Food Signage – Lake George

Lake George Vintage Food Signage

Recently I visited my favorite upstate retreat – Lake George.  It’s truly a special place. Thomas Jefferson thought so too… On May 31, 1791, Thomas Jefferson wrote in a letter to his daughter, “Lake George is without comparison, the most beautiful water I ever saw; formed by a contour of mountains into a basin… finely interspersed with islands, its water limpid as crystal, and the mountain sides covered with rich groves… down to the water-edge: here and there precipices of rock to checker the scene and save it from monotony.” […]
