Mike Honan Honored for his Work with Veterans

Photo Credit @katie_honan Congratulations to Mike Honan, Husband of Fran, Father to Katie and Roseanne and my friend. His work with Veterans was honored yesterday at City Hall. Mike was presented with a proclamation for his service from Eric Ulrich and other local officials. Mike Honan has worked with an organization to properly bury indigent veterans, riding in the hearse with a stranger’s remains and taking the flag home in their memory. When I wrote about the patriotic Johnny pumps appearing in Rockaway somehow I missed this one. It brings to mind a kind of patriotism Andy Warhol would have approved of. We’re not sure who is responsible for these paintings. Maybe it’s the Rockaway Civic Association, the RAA, or one very patriotic Rockawayite? “The evening arrival of the Wounded Warriors was wonderful made better by the enthusiastic cheers of so many beautiful children. Their artistic efforts were greatly appreciated and their joy was infectious.
