Joe’s Restaurant (6611 Forest Ave, NY 11385)
A quick “what you need to know”, overview. Finally, generous portions of grating cheese on the table – giant tomato points for this (think tomatoes on steroids). Often at other Italian restaurants I come across this exchange… the waiter sprinkles the cheese on my meal, then the stare-down – yes, more cheese PLEASE. This interaction annoys me and makes me irritable. We all know how expensive grating cheese is, so cheese on the table is a sure sign business is doing well. In other words, the food must be good.
I enjoyed my spaghetti garlic and oil dish as well as the crisp, hot bread and caesar salad. I ordered a large antipasto for my family, it was HUGE – could have feed six. If I had known, I wouldn’t have ordered the caesar salad. My family enjoyed their entrees of shrimp and mussels, chicken parm and shrimp parm. Full menu here.
The service, excellent.
One complaint, I can’t stand when restaurants assume everyone wants lemon wedges in their water, I hate lemon water. Anyway, go to Joe’s, great place.
